Tesla has finally gained access into a market that it had previously been barred from operating in. Tesla received the rights to operate and sell its electric vehicles under a subsidiary in the state of Michigan, the birthplace of the auto industry. The automaker has been trying for years to break into the Michigan market, so this is perceived as a huge win for Tesla.

The same day its market value topped $100 billion — surpassing Volkswagen Group for the No. 2 spot — Tesla reached a settlement with the state of Michigan that will allow it to sell and service its electric vehicles, through a subsidiary, in a state it previously had been barred from operating in. via Automotive News
